Bioengineered 3D hPSC‐Cholangiocyte Ducts With Physiological Signals for Biliary Disease Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Tian and colleagues generated a bioengineered bile duct from human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)‐derived intrahepatic cholangiocytes within a high‐throughput, 384‐well platform to systematically examine the influence of biliary physiological signals including fluid flow, stromal cells and bile acids, and models intrahepatic biliary disease progression ...

Prognostic significance of stem cell/ epithelial-mesenchymal transition markers in periampullary/pancreatic cancers: FGFR1 is a promising prognostic marker

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2020
Background Periampullary cancers (PAC) including pancreatic, ampulla of Vater (AOV), and common bile duct (CBD) cancers are highly aggressive with a lack of useful prognostic markers beyond T stage.

A rare case of resection of a mucinous cystic neoplasm originating from the extrahepatic bile duct with cholangioscopic imaging

open access: yesDEN Open
A 29‐year‐old woman was admitted to our hospital for examination of obstructive jaundice and an extrahepatic bile duct lesion. Contrast‐enhanced computed tomography revealed a 20 mm cystic lesion with a thin external capsule in the common hepatic duct ...

Tailoring Vascular‐Immune Homeostasis via Manganese‐DNA Complex‐Armed Immunogenic Extracellular Vesicles for Pancreatic Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Mn2⁺–tumor DNA complexes encapsulated in dendritic cell (DC)– derived immunogenic extracellular vesicles (EVDC@Mn‐DNA) act as a DC‐specific cGAS– STING activator. EVDC@Mn‐DNA treatment enhances intratumoral DC activation, improves tumor vascular function, promotes CD8⁺ T cell activity, and suppresses pancreatic tumor growth,

Gut Mycobiota‐Associated Tryptophan Catabolites Protect Against Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

Long-Term Risks of Benign and Malign Complications after Endoscopic Sphincterotomy in the Management of Benign Biliopancreatic Pathology: A Cohort Study

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Medicine
Background: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the preferred technique for treating pathologies of the bile duct. It has been suggested that this procedure, combined with sphincterotomy, may influence the subsequent development of ...

Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography: the ABC of MRCP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) is a technique that has evolved over the past two decades. It continues to have a fundamental role in the non-invasive investigation of many pancreatico-biliary disorders.

SMAD4 Palmitoylation Drives a Metabolic‐Transcriptional Circuit to Promote Tumorigenesis and Confers Radiosensitivity in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies palmitoylation as a novel regulatory modification of SMAD4, mediated by ZDHHC22/APT2. It activates fatty acid synthesis, creating a self‐reinforcing SMAD4–FASN–palmitate feedback loop that drives pancreatic cancer growth and enhances radiotherapy sensitivity.
