Lattice simulations for few- and many-body systems

open access: yes, 2008
We review the recent literature on lattice simulations for few- and many-body systems. We focus on methods and results that combine the framework of effective field theory with computational lattice methods.

Reprocessing of radiation by multi-phase gas in Low Luminosity Accretion Flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We discuss the role that magnetic fields in low luminosity accretion flows can play in creating and maintaining a multi-phase medium, and show that small magnetically-confined clouds or filaments of dense cold gas can dramatically reprocess the `primary'

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Simulating the Spread of the Common Cold

open access: yes, 2016
This modeling scenario guides students to simulate and investigate the spread of the common cold in a residence hall. An example floor plan is given, but the reader is encouraged to use a more relevant example.

Vitamin C and Infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the early literature, vitamin C deficiency was associated with pneumonia. After its identification, a number of studies investigated the effects of vitamin C on diverse infections.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Neutron stars in a Skyrme model with hyperons

open access: yes, 2004
Available Skyrme parametrizations with hyperons are examined from the point of view of their suitability for applications to neutron stars. It is shown that the hyperons can attenuate or even remove the problem of ferromagnetic instability common to ...

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Homologous expression and purification of human HAX‐1 for structural studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol provides detailed instructions for cloning, expressing, and purifying large quantities of the intrinsically disordered human HAX‐1 protein, N‐terminally fused to a cleavable superfolder GFP, from mammalian cells. HAX‐1 is predicted to undergo posttranslational modifications and to interact with membranes, various cellular ...

Indices of adrenal cortical activity in men exposed to cold [PDF]

open access: yes, 1951
Thesis (M.A.)--Boston UniversityEvidence of physiological acclimatization of man to cold is scanty and not clear-cut. Certainly no adaptations have been described comparable to the dramatic changes which occur when men are acclimatized to heat.
