Delay of reinforcement and delay shifts in dyadic communication [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Psychonomic Society, 1977
Participation in dyadic communication can be reinforced by the opportunity to speak in reply. Social analogs of delay of reinforcement and shifts in delay of reinforcement were investigated. In an experimental conversation modeled on discrete-trials instrumental conditioning, instrumental response speeds were faster when the opportunity to speak in ...

A novel hierarchical community architecture with end-to-end delay awareness for communication delay enhancement [PDF]

open access: yesCCECE 2003 - Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Toward a Caring and Humane Technology (Cat. No.03CH37436), 2004
The extreme dynamism and the rapidly changing user's requirements in current information systems promote imperative needs for the autonomous community information system (ACIS) proposition. ACIS is a decentralized architecture that forms a community of individual end-users (community members) having the same interests and demands in somewhere, at ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Adaptive Whale Optimization Algorithm–DBiLSTM for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Trajectory Prediction

open access: yesApplied Sciences
AUVs are autonomous underwater robots equipped with advanced sensors and navigation systems. Due to the complexity and uncertainty of the marine environment, AUVs are susceptible to the effects of the marine environment and may experience communication ...

Virtual inertia based hierarchical control scheme for distributed generations considering communication delay

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
The virtual inertia technology of DGs (Distributed Generations) can provide inertia and damping support for the power system by imitating the traditional synchronous machine. However, the inherent delay problems around the communication and process links

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
