Stabilizing effect of delay distribution for a class of second-order systems without instantaneous feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In many situations in physics, engineering and biology time delays arise naturally due to the time needed to transport information from one part of the system to another and/or to react to incoming information. When differential equations are used in the

Bioengineered Interfaces for Peripheral Nerve Sensory Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Half of amputees abandon their prosthetics for lack of feeling. This review charts the full path from peripheral nerve injury to restored sensation, through surgical, regenerative, noninvasive, and implanted approaches, and shows how injury type and interface material properties determine which strategy can deliver naturalistic feedback, and why ...

Self‐Assembling Copolymers Encapsulating Single Endothelial Cells Induce Endogenous ECM Deposition and Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the first demonstration of stable sub‐50‐micron single‐cell GPM vesicles fabricated through the intrinsic self‐assembly of an amphiphilic copolymer. Hierarchical assembly of cell containing GPM vesicles into microspheres enable tunable, sustained cell delivery with immune protection.

Charge Storage and Dark Photocatalysis in Multivariate Ti‐Based Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The mixed‐linker series of the titanium‐based metal–organic framework COK‐47 enables systematic tuning of photoresponsiveness and (dark) photocatalytic activity, deepening our understanding of structure‐property‐function relationships. Tailored metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer between the secondary building units (metal‐oxo layers and organic linkers ...
