Multi-Delayed Discrete Matrix Functions and Their Applications in Solving Higher-Order Difference Equations

open access: yesMathematics
A new class of linear non-homogeneous discrete matrix equations with multiple delays and second-order differences is considered, where the coefficient matrices satisfy pairwise permutability conditions.

Commuting triples of matrices

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra, 2005
The variety C(3 ,n ) of commuting triples of n × n matrices over C is shown to be irreducible for n =7 . It had been proved thatC(3 ,n ) is reducible for n ≥ 30, but irreducible for n ≤ 6. Guralnick and Omladic have conjectured that it is reducible for n> 7.

Advances in Position‐Momentum Entanglement: A Versatile Tool for Quantum Technologies

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Position–momentum entanglement constitutes a high‐dimensional continuous‐variable resource in quantum optics. Recent advances in its generation, characterization, and control are reviewed, with emphasis on spontaneous parametric down‐conversion and modern measurement techniques.

A Resource Efficient Ising Model‐Based Quantum Sudoku Solver

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Quantum algorithms exploit superposition and parallelism to address complex combinatorial problems, many of which fall into the non‐polynomial (NP) class. Sudoku, a widely known logic‐based puzzle, is proven to be NP‐complete and thus presents a suitable testbed for exploring quantum optimization approaches.

A fast and precise method to solve the Altarelli-Parisi equations in x space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A numerical method to solve linear integro-differential equations is presented. This method has been used to solve the QCD Altarelli-Parisi evolution equations within the H1 Collaboration at DESY-Hamburg. Mathematical aspects and numerical approximations

Non‐Rigid 3D Shape Correspondences: From Foundations to Open Challenges and Opportunities

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Estimating correspondences between deformed shape instances is a long‐standing problem in computer graphics; numerous applications, from texture transfer to statistical modelling, rely on recovering an accurate correspondence map. Many methods have thus been proposed to tackle this challenging problem from varying perspectives, depending on ...

Generalized composition law from 2x2 matrices

open access: yes, 2009
Many results that are difficult can be found more easily by using a generalization in the complex plane of Einstein's addition law of parallel velocities. Such a generalization is a natural way to add quantities that are limited to bounded values.

The topological AC effect on noncommutative phase space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The Aharonov-Casher (AC) effect in non-commutative(NC) quantum mechanics is studied. Instead of using the star product method, we use a generalization of Bopp's shift method.

Models with commutative orthogonal block structure: a general condition for commutativity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Statistics, 2020
A linear mixed model whose variance-covariance matrix is a linear combination of known pairwise orthogonal projection matrices that add to the identity matrix, is a model with orthogonal block structure (OBS).
