On pairs of commuting nilpotent matrices [PDF]

open access: yesTransformation Groups, 2009
Let $B$ be a nilpotent matrix and suppose that its Jordan canonical form is determined by a partition $ $. Then it is known that its nilpotent commutator $N_B$ is an irreducible variety and that there is a unique partition $ $ such that the intersection of the orbit of nilpotent matrices corresponding to $ $ with $N_B$ is dense in $N_B$.

Establishing Shape Correspondences: A Survey

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Shape correspondence between surfaces in 3D is a central problem in geometry processing, concerned with establishing meaningful relations between surfaces. While all correspondence problems share this goal, specific formulations can differ significantly: Downstream applications require certain properties that correspondences must satisfy ...

Non-constant Non-commutativity in 2d Field Theories and a New Look at Fuzzy Monopoles

open access: yes, 2006
We write down scalar field theory and gauge theory on two-dimensional noncommutative spaces ${\cal M}$ with nonvanishing curvature and non-constant non-commutativity.

On Spatial Point Processes With Composition‐Valued Marks

open access: yesInternational Statistical Review, EarlyView.
Summary Methods for marked spatial point processes with scalar marks have seen extensive development in recent years. While the impressive progress in data collection and storage capacities has yielded an immense increase in spatial point process data with highly challenging non‐scalar marks, methods for their analysis are not equally well developed ...

Why is CPT fundamental?

open access: yes, 2003
G. L\"uders and W. Pauli proved the $\mathcal{CPT}$ theorem based on Lagrangian quantum field theory almost half a century ago. R. Jost gave a more general proof based on ``axiomatic'' field theory nearly as long ago.

A Note on Local Polynomial Regression for Time Series in Banach Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This work extends local polynomial regression to Banach space‐valued time series for estimating smoothly varying means and their derivatives in non‐stationary data. The asymptotic properties of both the standard and bias‐reduced Jackknife estimators are analyzed under mild moment conditions, establishing their convergence rates.

Bäcklund Transformation for the BC-Type Toda Lattice

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2007
We study an integrable case of $n$-particle Toda lattice: open chain with boundary terms containing 4 parameters. For this model we construct a Bäcklund transformation and prove its basic properties: canonicity, commutativity and spectrality.

Spin-spin correlators on the β/β⋆ boundaries in 2D Ising-like models: Exact analysis through theory of block Toeplitz determinants

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
In this work, we investigate quantitative properties of correlation functions on the boundaries between two 2D Ising-like models with dual parameters β and β⋆.

Pairs of matrices, one of which commutes with their commutator [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Linear Algebra, 2011
Let A, B be n × n complex matrices such that C = AB BA and A commute. For n = 2, we prove that A, B are simultaneously triangularizable. For n 3, we give an example of matrices A, B such that the pair (A, B) does not have property L of Motzkin-Taussky, and such that B and C are not simultaneously triangularizable.
