On Compactness and Sequential Compactness [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1976
Let X X be a compact space of cardinality less than or equal to ℵ 1 {\aleph _1} . It is shown that X X is sequentially compact.

Techno-economic process optimization for a range of membrane performances: What provides real value for point-source carbon capture?

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology
Membranes provide a unique opportunity for heavy industry decarbonization and a real solution requires optimal system design. We use a superstructure process model to minimize capital and operational expenses for post-combustion carbon capture systems ...

Performance Review of Multiple Reference Versus Time Domain Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
We present a detailed characterization of noise sources in multiple reference optical coherence tomography (MR-OCT) compared to time-domain OCT (TD-OCT).

Simple and rapid hydrogenation of p-nitrophenol with aqueous formic acid in catalytic flow reactors

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
The inner surface of a metallic tube (i.d. 0.5 mm) was coated with a palladium (Pd)-based thin metallic layer by flow electroless plating. Simultaneous plating of Pd and silver (Ag) from their electroless-plating solution produced a mixed distributed ...

High Gain and Wideband Fabry-Perot Resonator Antenna Based on a Compact Single PRS Layer

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this paper, a wideband and high gain Fabry Perot Resonator Antenna (FPRA) is proposed. It is based on a synthesized compact single partially reflective surface (PRS) layer acting as a superstrate to a slot-coupled feed antenna, which acts as a ...

Compact lumps [PDF]

open access: yesEPL (Europhysics Letters), 2015
We study the presence of lumplike solutions in models described by a single real scalar field with standard kinematics in two-dimensional spacetime. The results show several distinct models that support the presence of bell-shaped, lumplike structures which may live in a compact space.

The layer by layer selective laser synthesis of ruby [PDF]

open access: yesScience of Sintering, 2010
In the work, features of the layer-by-layer selective laser synthesis (SLS) of ruby from an Al2O3-Cr2O3 mixture are considered depending on the irradiation power, the laser beam traverse speed, the height and amount of the backfill of powder layers.

Compact orthoalgebras [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2005
We initiate a study of topological orthoalgebras (TOAs), concentrating on the compact case. Examples of TOAs include topological orthomodular lattices, and also the projection lattice of a Hilbert space. As the latter example illustrates, a lattice-ordered TOA need not be a topological lattice.
