Dual-Flow Structure to Design a Continuous and Compact Nature Reserve

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Establishing the conservation reserves is an efficient approach to protect various species, in which maintaining the spatial characteristics of the habit is an important issue.

Blocking light in compact Riemannian manifolds

open access: yes, 2006
We study compact Riemannian manifolds for which the light between any pair of points is blocked by finitely many point shades. Compact flat Riemannian manifolds are known to have this finite blocking property.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Making Compact-Table Compact

open access: yes, 2018
The compact-table propagator for table constraints appears to be a strong candidate for inclusion into any constraint solver due to its efficiency and simplicity. However, successful integration into a constraint solver based on copying rather than trailing is not obvious: while the underlying bit-set data structure is sparse for efficiency it is not ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Overview of EXL-50 research progress

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
XuanLong-50 (EXL-50) is the first medium-size spherical torus (ST) in China, with the toroidal field of 0.5 T at a major radius of 50 cm. Central Solenoid (CS)—free and non-inductive current drive via electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) were the ...

Design of Ultracompact High‐Speed‐Integrated Lithium–Niobate Periodic Dielectric Waveguide Modulator

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2022
Modern communications and microwave photonics require compact electro‐optic modulators with ultrahigh bandwidth and low power consumption. These requirements can be satisfied by integrated lithium–niobate electro‐optic modulators with high bandwidth and ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
