Comparative studies on collagen
Calcified Tissue Research, 1968The special features in the evolution of collagen are the differentiation of the chains and a physiological improvement of the thermal stability of the secondary structure. The small number of mutations restricted by the helical structure facilitates the correlations between the chemical differences and the evolutionary schemes.

Abstract Actin preparations from striated muscle of beef, pig, lamb, chicken, frog, fish and pecten were compared with respect to their sedimentation coefficients, starch-gel electrophoresis, amino acid composition and peptide maps. No differences were found in the actin preparations from mammalian and avian muscle.

Comparative Study Of Hallucinations
Archives of General Psychiatry, 1965Introduction IN both religious and secular literature there are many reports from people who have seen visions or heard voices. At times these phenomena have been considered as manifestations of the supernatural, and the actions, beliefs, and faith of many people have been influenced by them.

We present a practical guide to some of the issues involved in comparing or integrating different microarray studies. We discuss the influence that various factors have on the agreement between studies, such as different technologies and platforms, statistical analysis criteria, protocols, and lab variability.

Abstract 1. 1. Purified myosins from human, chicken, turtle, frog skeletal muscle and lobster abdominal muscle were compared by electrophoresis and isoelectric focusing in dilute polyacrylamide gels. 2. 2. The large subunits of myosin exhibited the same electrophoretic mobility following acetylation and analysis in dilute gel or following ...

Comparative studies of paramyosins
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976Abstract 1. 1. Paramyosin has been isolated from animals in seven invertebrate phyla. 2. 2. The paramyosin/myosin weight ratio in these muscles varies from 0.07 to 2.2. 3. 3. The amino acid compositions of these paramyosins have been determined and comparison by a multivariate statistical method shows that protein similarity coincides ...

A study in comparative nutrition
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology, 1961Abstract 1. (1) Experiments with representatives of thirteen phyla are presented for preliminary examination of the thesis that representative species from all phyla of life mey be reared on a single syntype diet. A more detailed examination is made of the phylum Chordata, especially in the class Mammalia.
