A Broadband Switchable Metamaterial Absorber/Reflector Based On Multi-Laps Graphene Sheets in the Terahertz Band

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2021
Switchable metamaterial absorbers/reflectors (MAs/MRs) are important bifunctional electromagnetic devices and have been the subject of numerous scientific studies.

On Recognizing Staircase Compatibility

open access: yesJournal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2022
AbstractFor the problem to find an m-clique in an m-partite graph, staircase compatibility has recently been introduced as a polynomial-time solvable special case. It is a property of a graph together with an m-partition of the vertex set and total orders on each subset of the partition.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Data Immunity in Near Field Radio Frequency Communication Systems—NFC as an Aspect of Electromagnetic Information Security

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The NFC and MIFARE systems (referred to as HF-band RFID) are a special case of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology using a radio frequency of 13.56 MHz for communication.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Benchmark-Modeling Approach for a Dual-Die CPU

open access: yes, 2011
-The traditional challenging problem 2000-4 of electromagnetics (as indicated by the IEEE) proposed a benchmark model of a conventional CPU with a heatsink. However, after CPU entered the multiple-die century, the original model is no longer effective

Characteristics of different charge transfer modes in upward flashes inferred from simultaneously measured currents and fields

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2019
The authors present an analysis of different charge transfer modes during upward negative flashes. The analysis includes a total number of 94 pulses that occurred during two upward negative flashes recorded at the Säntis Tower.
