Networks of Collaboration in Multi-market Oligopolies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The result that firms competing in a Cournot oligopoly with pairwise collaboration form a complete network under zero or negligible link formation costs provided by Goyal and Joshi (2003) no longer hold in multi-market oligopolies. Link formation in one

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Editorial. Architectural Competitions II. The dynamics of competing and organising competitions in architecture and urban design

open access: yesFormAkademisk - forskningstidsskrift for design og designdidaktikk, 2014
In this issue, we present four papers that discuss competitions in architecture and urban design. The papers were initially presented at the International conference Architecture as Human Interface in Helsinki, 26-27 October 2012. The conference was organised by the Finnish Association of Architects, together with the departments of architecture at the

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

An upward compatible spectrum sharing architecture for existing, actively planned and emerging mobile satellite systems [PDF]

open access: yes
Existing and actively planned mobile satellite systems are competing for a viable share of the spectrum allocated by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to the satellite based mobile services in the 1.5/1.6 GHz range.

Piezoresistive Monitoring of Carbon Nanomaterial‐Reinforced Epoxy Composites Under Cyclic and Fatigue Loading: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanomaterial‐reinforced epoxy composites exhibit pronounced piezoresistive behavior, enabling intrinsic damage sensing under cyclic and fatigue loading. This review critically compares carbon nanotube and graphene systems, correlating filler content, percolation threshold, and gauge factor with sensing stability and damage evolution.
