Location and design of a competitive facility for profit maximisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A single facility has to be located in competition with fixed existing facilities of similar type. Demand is supposed to be concentrated at a finite number of points, and consumers patronise the facility to which they are attracted most.

Exact approaches for competitive facility location with discrete attractiveness [PDF]

open access: yesOptimization Letters, 2020
We study a variant of the competitive facility location problem, in which a company is to locate new facilities in a market where competitor's facilities already exist. We consider the scenario where only a limited number of possible attractiveness levels is available, and the company has to select exactly one level for each open facility.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Online Algorithmic Study of Facility Location Problems: A Survey

open access: yesIEEE Access
Facility Location problems are one of the most prominent optimization problems in computer science, operations research, and combinatorial optimization. Their simple yet intrinsic structure has led to their widespread application in diverse fields, such ...

Trends in the development of additional services to create competitive advantages of a hotel

open access: yesЕкономіка, управління та адміністрування, 2020
Hotel complexes offer a large number of services that are aimed at satisfying the specific desires of consumers. Today, the number of consumers who are not satisfied with the monotony of standard hotels is steadily increasing, and when planning a holiday

The Assessment and Comparison of a Genetic Algorithm, Simulated Annealing and Cuckoo Optimization Algorithm for Optimization of the Facility Location under Competitive Conditions (Case Study: Banks) [PDF]

open access: yesمجله مدل سازی در مهندسی, 2017
This paper determines the location of bank branches under competitive conditions with different attractive conditions. Finding an optimum location of branches depends on many factors and these problems are known as NP-hard problems.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Reallocating Multiple Facilities on the Line

open access: yes, 2019
We study the multistage $K$-facility reallocation problem on the real line, where we maintain $K$ facility locations over $T$ stages, based on the stage-dependent locations of $n$ agents. Each agent is connected to the nearest facility at each stage, and

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...
