Complement Fixation Test in Contagious Ecthyma

Nature, 1949
DURING both research and routine complement fixation tests with foot-and-mouth disease virus, we attempted to develop a similar test for the condition known as contagious ecthyma of the lips, infectious or contagious pustular dermatitis or stomatitis and infectious labial dermatitis.

Rubella Virus Complement-fixation Test

Nature, 1965
METHODS in present use for the serological diagnosis of rubella consist of the neutralization1,2 and the indirect fluorescent-antibody3 techniques. The former is expensive and laborious and requires usually 7–10 days to carry out, while the latter, although it can give an answer within a matter of hours, is a difficult technique for routine diagnosis ...

A standardized routine complement fixation test

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 1958
A description is presented of a simple routine complement fixation test in which veronal-buffered saline, containing magnesium and calcium ions, is used as a diluent and an optimal hemolysin dilution and preserved complement, spectrophotometrically titrated in terms of 50% hemolytic units, are applied.

The complement-fixation test in filariasis

Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1956
Abstract The results of 517 filaria complement-fixation tests are analysed. It is concluded that D. immitis antigen gives a group reaction but that the incidence of positives is not equal for all types of filariasis, being greatest in loiasis, and lowest in cases of bancroftian infection.

The Gonococcus Complement Fixation Test

The Journal of Immunology, 1935
Summary The Hamann Combined System largely removes the irregularities previously noted in the diagnosis of sera sent to different laboratories. It consists in recognizing and titrating the fixing and hemolytic power of the complement. Previously the complement was tested for its hemolytic power only.

Complement Fixation Test (CFT)

2018
Complement fixation is a process that initiates through the binding of C1 to at least two IgGs or one IgM, triggering the classical pathway to form a membrane attack complex (MAC), and eventually the lysis of the target. This reaction is utilized in clinical testing because complement can lyse any antibody–antigen complexes.

COMPLEMENT FIXATION TESTS IN TUBERCULISIS

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1917
In scanning the literature on complement fixation for tuberculosis, one is astonished at the number of substances used as antigen for this test and the great diversity of results obtained, some authors asserting only a 50 per cent. efficiency for the test, and others that the test even outclasses the Wassermann reaction, with 95 or more per cent ...
