Use of chemiluminescence for the serological diagnosis of bovine and ovine brucellosis with indirect and competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays [PDF]
The official methods specified in the national bovine and ovine/caprine brucellosis eradication plan are the Rose Bengal and complement fixation tests. In the current phase of the eradication plan, it is often difficult to interpret the results obtained ...

The Complement-fixation Test for Avian Leukosis
Summary Sera from hamsters bearing tumours induced by the Schmidt-Ruppin strain of Rous sarcoma virus (sr-RSV) contain antibodies to the avian leukosis group specific antigen and an antigen of chick origin. The ‘chick embryo antigen’ is found in chick embryos infected and uninfected with avian leukosis viruses and in chicken tumours induced by avian ...

Complexity of eye fixation duration time series in reading of Persian texts: A multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis [PDF]
There is growing evidence that cognitive processes may have fractal structures as a signature of complexity. It is an an ongoing topic of research to study the class of complexity and how it may differ as a function of cognitive variables. Here, we explore the eye movement trajectories generated during reading different Persian texts.

Bioresorbable and Wireless Rechargeable Implanted Na‐ion Battery for Temporary Medical Devices
An all‐solid‐state bioresorbable Na‐ion battery is developed, composed entirely of bio‐eliminable materials. In vivo and ex vivo tests confirmed harmless disintegration of this implanted battery. Lifetime of the implanted battery can be precisely controlled by adjusting the dissolvable encapsulation layer's thickness.

Actions in the Eye: Dynamic Gaze Datasets and Learnt Saliency Models for Visual Recognition [PDF]
Systems based on bag-of-words models from image features collected at maxima of sparse interest point operators have been used successfully for both computer visual object and action recognition tasks. While the sparse, interest-point based approach to recognition is not inconsistent with visual processing in biological systems that operate in `saccade

Comparison of Five Different Serological Assays for Determination of Antibody Levels Against Herpes Virus Type 1 and 2 [PDF]
To aid in the diagnosis of certain clinical types of Herpes virus infections, we evaluated and compared five serological methods for measuring Herpes virus antibody. The five tests we compared are complement fixation test (CF), indirect immunofluorescent
