The complete chloroplast genome characterization and phylogenetic analysis of Canarium album

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Canarium album is one of the precious and characteristic fruit trees of China. In this study, we first presented the complete chloroplast genome of C. album by using BGISEQ-500 sequencing. Its complete chloroplast genome is 163,140 bp in size, containing

The complete chloroplast genome of Zanthoxylum stenophyllum Hemsl. (Rutaceae), a traditional Chinese medicinal plant

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2022
Zanthoxylum stenophyllum Hemsl., a type species for the genus Zanthoxylum (Rutaceae), is a traditional medicinal plant. We studied the complete chloroplast genome of this species using BGISEQ-500 platform.

Gene Similarity-based Approaches for Determining Core-Genes of Chloroplasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In computational biology and bioinformatics, the manner to understand evolution processes within various related organisms paid a lot of attention these last decades. However, accurate methodologies are still needed to discover genes content evolution. In a previous work, two novel approaches based on sequence similarities and genes features have been ...

Extensive Structural Variations Between Mitochondrial Genomes of CMS and Normal Peppers (Capsicum Annuum L.) Revealed by Complete Nucleotide Sequencing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) is an inability to produce functional pollen that is caused by mutation of the mitochondrial genome. Comparative analyses of mitochondrial genomes of lines with and without CMS in several species have revealed structural ...

Seasonal and spatial transitions in phytoplankton assemblages spanning estuarine to open ocean waters of the tropical Pacific

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Islands in the tropical Pacific supply elevated nutrients to nearshore waters that enhance phytoplankton biomass and create hotspots of productivity in otherwise nutrient‐poor oceans. Despite the importance of these hotspots in supporting nearshore food webs, the spatial and temporal variability of phytoplankton enhancement and changes in the ...

The complete chloroplast genome of Actinidia macrosperma [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA Part B, 2019
Actinidia macrosperma (A. macrosperma) is a medicinal plant in China, which has been well known for its activities against leprosy and cancers. In this study, we assembled and characterized the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of A. macrosperma in an effort to provide genomic resources for promoting its conservation.

Intracompartmental and Intercompartmental Transcriptional Networks Coordinate the Expression of Genes for Organellar Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Genes for mitochondrial and chloroplast proteins are distributed between the nuclear and organellar genomes. Organelle biogenesis and metabolism, therefore, require appropriate coordination of gene expression in the different compartments to ensure ...

Microbially Influenced Corrosion in Epoxy‐Ceramic Coated Carbon‐Steel Cooler

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
A significant localization of corrosion attacks up to 1 mm deep were found in coated carbon‐steel cooler. Corrosion products and biofilm were enriched in mixed bacterial community including the genera Sulfuritalea and Methylotenera. Analysis of metabolic markers confirmed their coexistence with sulfate‐reducing bacteria.

The chloroplast genome of a subtropical tree Sassafras randaiense (Hayata) Rehder, 1920 (Lauraceae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources
The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Sassafras randaiense (Hayata) Rehder, 1920, a subtropical tree in the family Lauraceae, was determined. For a better understanding of the differences between S. randaiense and S. tzumu, the complete chloroplast
