Non-factorial nodal complete intersection threefolds

open access: yes, 2013
We give a bound on the minimal number of singularities of a nodal projective complete intersection threefold which contains a smooth complete intersection surface that is not a Cartier ...

5d SCFTs from isolated complete intersection singularities

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In this paper, we explore the zoo of 5d superconformal field theories (SCFTs) constructed from M-theory on Isolated Complete Intersection Singularities (ICIS).

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Strange Duality Between the Quadrangle Complete Intersection Singularities

open access: yes, 2021
There is a strange duality between the quadrangle isolated complete intersection singularities discovered by the first author and Wall. We derive this duality from a variation of the Berglund–Hübsch transposition of invertible polynomials introduced in ...

Special Lagrangian torus fibrations of complete intersection Calabi–Yau manifolds: A geometric conjecture

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2015
For complete intersection Calabi–Yau manifolds in toric varieties, Gross and Haase–Zharkov have given a conjectural combinatorial description of the special Lagrangian torus fibrations whose existence was predicted by Strominger, Yau and Zaslow.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Mechanical Properties of Rock With Intersection Structures and its Progressive Failure Mechanism

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
To investigate the influence of intersection structures on the mechanical properties and failure mechanisms of rock materials, a series of uniaxial compression tests on complete red sandstone specimens and specimens with various hole shapes (T-shape ...

First steps with Bott formula

open access: yesAtti della Accademia Peloritana dei Pericolanti : Classe di Scienze Fisiche, Matematiche e Naturali, 2023
We use Bott's residue formula to infer that a general cubic surface in the projective space P^3_C contains exactly twenty seven lines and that a general complete intersection of two quadrics in P^4_C contains exactly sixteen lines.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Complete intersection dimensions and Foxby classes

open access: yes, 2008
Let R be a local ring and M a finitely generated R-module. The complete intersection dimension of M–defined by Avramov, Gasharov and Peeva, and denoted CI-dimR(M)–is a homological invariant whose finiteness implies that M is similar to a module over a ...
