The mitochondrial genome of the venomous cone snail conus consors

open access: yes, 2012
Cone snails are venomous predatory marine neogastropods that belong to the species-rich superfamily of the Conoidea. So far, the mitochondrial genomes of two cone snail species (Conus textile and Conus borgesi) have been described, and these feed on ...

Identification of protein coding genes in genomes with statistical functions based on the circular code [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A new statistical approach using functions based on the circular code classifies correctly more than 93 % of bases in protein (coding) genes and non-coding genes of human sequences. Based on this statistical study, a research software called "Analysis of

Characterization and phylogenetic analysis of the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Diospyros oleifera, the first representative from the family Ebenaceae

open access: yesHeliyon, 2022
Plant mitochondrial genomes are a valuable source of genetic information for a better understanding of phylogenetic relationships. However, no mitochondrial genome of any species in Ebenaceae has been reported.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Genome Sequences of Populus tremula Chloroplast and Mitochondrion: Implications for Holistic Poplar Breeding. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Complete Populus genome sequences are available for the nucleus (P. trichocarpa; section Tacamahaca) and for chloroplasts (seven species), but not for mitochondria.
