Continuous‐Flow Photocatalytic Degradation of Glyphosate and Aminomethylphosphonic Acid Under Simulated Sunlight with TiO2‐Coated Poly(vinylidene fluoride) Membrane

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Glyphosate (GLY) and its primary metabolite, aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), are photodegraded using a poly(vinylidene fluoride) membrane with immobilized titanium dioxide (PVDF‐TiO2) in a continuous flow‐through operation under solar light. At optimized conditions, the PVDF‐TiO2 membrane achieved 95% GLY and 80% AMPA removal with •O2− as the ...

Effects of Therapeutic Targeting of Cancer Associated Fibroblasts on Extracellular Matrix Remodeling in an Engineered Tumor Stroma Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a complex combination of stromal cells and extracellular matrix. The cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) plays an integral role in remodeling the TME and promoting tumor aggression.

Implementation of Drug‐Induced Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Kidney Injury in Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A modular Muscle–Kidney proximal tubule‐on‐a‐chip integrates 3D skeletal muscle and renal proximal tubule tissues to model drug‐induced rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury. The coculture system enables dynamic tissue interaction, functional contraction monitoring, and quantification of nephrotoxicity, revealing drug side effect‐induced metabolic ...

Miniature Nanomesh Mechano‐Acoustic Sensor with Wide Linear Dynamic Range, Broad Bandwidth, and Flat Frequency Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized mechano‐acoustic sensor is developed using an electrospun PVDF nanomesh as the diaphragm in a capacitive sensor structure. Unlike conventional nanomesh‐based sensors, it achieves high linear sensitivity, a broad and flat frequency response, and a compact form factor.

The Effect of Magnetically Induced Local Structure and Volume Fraction on the Electromagnetic Properties of Elastomer Samples with Ferrofluid Droplet Inserts

open access: yesMagnetochemistry
The magnetic permeability (μ), dielectric permittivity (ε) and electrical conductivity (σ) of six elastomer samples obtained by mixing silicone rubber (RTV-530) with a kerosene-based ferrofluid in different volume fractions (φ), 1.31%, 2.59% and 3.84 ...

Upscaling of Permeability Field of Fractured Rock System: Numerical Examples

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
When the permeability field of a given porous medium domain is heterogeneous by the existence of randomly distributed fractures such that numerical investigation becomes cumbersome, another level of upscaling may be required.
