FPGA Implementation of a Complex Permeability Measurement Instrument

2019 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2019
As an irreplaceable part of industrial process, catalysts characteristics in the reaction process are getting more and more research. However, the traditional detection methods are off-line measurements, and the state of the catalysts cannot be known in real time, which does not do much effect on guiding the chemical reactions and production ...

Measurement of Complex Permittivity and Permeability

1970
Abstract : The program was conducted to derive a better technique for the measurement of the permeability and permittivity of lossy ferrites at microwave frequencies at temperatures up to 1000F. Although the classical method of waveguide measurement techniques was used, a careful analysis of the sources of errors was undertaken and a computer aided ...

CORRESPONDENCE: ON THE COMPLEX PERMEABILITY OF A FERROMAGNETIC CORE

Electric Machines & Power Systems, 1979
ABSTRACT This note presents some experimental results relating to the effect of applied voltage waveform on the complex fundamental permeability of a ferromagnetic-cored inductor and on the phase angles of the harmonic complex permeabilities. These results may be useful in interpretation of subharmonic and other effects in circuits containing nonlinear

Measurement of complex permeability by discriminator

Journal of the British Institution of Radio Engineers, 1960
A modified Foster-Seeley discriminator can be used to measure the real and imaginary parts of v.h.f. permeability in a ferromagnetic sample. The circuit is described and the theory and design criteria given. The results of measurements on colloidal nickel in liquid suspension are quoted.

Analysis of the complex permeability of a ferromagnetic wire

Journal of Applied Physics, 1999
We have measured the magnetoimpedance of ferromagnetic wires placed as internal conductors in shorted coaxial lines. We have also modeled the impedance by simultaneously solving Maxwell’s equations and the Landau–Lifshitz equation of motion for the magnetization in a cylindrical magnetic conductor under the appropriate boundary conditions.

Complex permeability of polycrystalline hexagonal ferrites

INTERMAG 2000 Digest of Technical Papers. 2000 IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 2000
Polycrystalline hexagonal ferrites (Y, Z and W-phases) were prepared by the usual ceramic sintering. Their complex permeability spectra were natural resonance type, and numerically separated into spin rotational and domain wall motion components. For the spin rotational component, it was found that the Snoek's product values of them were far beyond the

Microwave complex permeability and permittivity of nanoferrites

Journal of Applied Physics, 2011
Complex permittivity and permeability of nanosized magnetic powders are studied for eight different bands to cover the frequency range from 2–40 GHz. A precise transmission-reflection based waveguide technique has been used to carry out measurements across the frequency bands. The algorithm for transmission and reflection calculations has been modified

Investigation and gas permeability of polyurethane complexes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1998
Ionic polyurethane (PU) membranes of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) and 4,4′-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (H12MDI) were polymerized by a two-stage method. The ionic group was introduced by adding N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) as the chain extender of which the tertiary amines were complexed with cobalt ions.

Calibrated Broadband Measurement Technique for Complex Permittivity and Permeability

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2020
A technique to measure the complex permittivity and permeability using two different types of calibration is presented in this article. The technique is based on a classical transmission-line analysis, implemented on a strip-line structure. A new calibration technique, namely object-reflect-line (ORL), is proposed to meet the challenge of an extremely ...

Time domain measurement of complex-permittivity and complex permeability of materials

14th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar and Wireless Communications. MIKON - 2002. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat.No.02EX562), 2003
Time domain measurement of complex permittivity and complex permeability is considered. Two methods are presented for measuring. measuring in the 2 to 18 GHz frequency band using a horn antenna and measuring in a coaxial waveguide. Some modifications of measurement scheme for the determination of permittivity and permeability are presented and ...
