Versatile cell for complex permittivity measurements on liquids
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1999A disk type guarded measurement cell is described, which permits the determination of the complex permittivity of liquids with an accuracy of 0.5% or better. The cell has small residual circuit elements (4 nH and 20 mΩ) and behaves like an ideal capacitor for radius-to-electrode spacing ratios ranging from 15 to 135.

Measuring complex permittivity with the six-port technique
SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwave and Optoelectronics, 2005., 2006This paper presents a novel circuit to measure the complex dielectric constant /spl epsi/* based on the six-port principle. Its most attractive feature resides in the fact that calibration procedure avoids liquids or granulated material of known permittivities as calibration standards. Instead, conventional loads (short-circuits) are used.

Complex permittivity estimation from free space RCS measurement
International Conference on Communications and Electronics 2010, 2010Non-destructive and non-contacting estimation of the complex permittivity of the solid materials has been proposed using the monostatic RCS measurement from the specular reflection surface. In order to isolate the surface reflection contribution from the total scattering response, time gating method is utilized.

Non-destructive complex permittivity measurements of absorbing materials
[1991] Conference Record. IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference, 2002A flanged circular waveguide propagating dominant TE/sub 11/ mode is used to test absorbing properties of a plate-shaped dielectric sample placed at the opened waveguide end. In this method, which is a non-destructive local one, the material complex permittivity epsilon '- epsilon " is evaluated from vectorial reflection coefficient measurement ...

A spectrometer for the measurement of complex permittivity
Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1972The spectrometer uses an unbalanced AC bridge and records the real or imaginary component of permittivity on a chart recorder over the frequency range from about 1 Hz to 1 MHz. The measured sensitivity extends to values of loss tangent of about 10-3 although the ultimate sensitivity is expected to be higher.

Frequency domain complex permittivity measurements at microwave frequencies
Measurement Science and Technology, 2006Overview of frequency domain measurement techniques of the complex permittivity at microwave frequencies is presented. The methods are divided into two categories: resonant and non-resonant ones. In the first category several methods are discussed such as cavity resonator techniques, dielectric resonator techniques, open resonator techniques and ...
