Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Projectivity of the Space of Divisors on a Normal Compact Complex Space

open access: yesPublications of the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, 1982
One proves the following: For any normal compact complex space X every connected component of Div X is compact and projective. In codimension \(>1\) this fails, but is still true if X is Kähler or more generally is in Fujiki's class C (Campana and the author).

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

A Classification of Compact Cohomogeneity One Locally Conformal Kähler Manifolds

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we apply a result of the classification of a compact cohomogeneity one Riemannian manifold with a compact Lie group G to obtain a classification of compact cohomogeneity one locally conformal Kähler manifolds.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Purity and hybridness of two tensors on a real hypersurface in complex projective space

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
On a real hypersurface MM in complex projective space, we can define two tensor fields of type (1, 2), AF(k){A}_{F}^{\left(k)} and AT(k){A}_{T}^{\left(k)}, associated with the shape operator AA of the real hypersurface, for any nonnull real number kk ...

Toric polar maps, normal crossings and mixed volumes

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique
Given a hypersurface in a complex projective space, we prove that the Chern–Schwartz–MacPherson class of a certain open set, namely the complement of the union of the hypersurface and the coordinate hyperplanes, is given (up to sign) by the multidegrees ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

On Frenet frames of complex submanifolds in complex projective spaces

open access: yesDuke Mathematical Journal, 1984
The main results of this paper concern the curvature of a certain osculating bundle of complex projective manifolds. The author obtains a formula which generalizes a formula by Weyl for holomorphic curves - a so-called unintegrated Plücker formula. As a corollary he obtains the following characterization: The Veronese surfaces is the only surface in \({

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.
