Information Entropy As a Basic Building Block of Complexity Theory
What is information? What role does information entropy play in this information exploding age, especially in understanding emergent behaviors of complex systems?

Complexity Theory and Its Evolution in Public Administration and Policy Studies
This paper traces the evolution of the application of the complexity sciences in the literature of public administration and public policy. A four stage evolutionary model is used to track the development of this literature.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Community Networks and the Nature of Emergence in Civil Society
Our research challenges the limitations of extant knowledge of social formation by its focus on the ordinary, everyday lived reality of maintaining community and on identifying its operations from the internal perspective of civil society.

Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Model Theory and Complexity Theory
This presentation explores the intersection of finite model theory and complexity theory, with a focus on descriptive complexity—a framework that classifies computational problems based on the logical languages needed to express them. It highlights classical results such as Fagin’s theorem (NP = Σ₁¹) and Immerman’s characterization of P, and introduces

A THEORY OF COMPLEXITY, CONDITION, AND ROUNDOFF [PDF]
We develop a theory of complexity for numerical computations that takes into account the condition of the input data and allows for roundoff in the computations. We follow the lines of the theory developed by Blum, Shub and Smale for computations over $\mathbb{R}$ (which in turn followed those of the classical, discrete, complexity theory as laid down ...
