Composite bow-tie nano-antenna
2017 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Pacific Rim (CLEO-PR), 2017This paper analyzes a multilayered bowtie nano-antenna, consisting of alternate layers of silica (SiO 2 ) and gold (Au). We show that the multi-layered structure can produce six times higher relative electric field enhancements than a purely gold bowtie antenna.

Modelling the bending/bowing of composite beams such as nuclear fuel: The bow code
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1989Abstract Arrays of tubes are used in many engineered structures, such as in nuclear fuel bundles and in steam generators. The tubes can bend (bow) due to in-service temperatures and loads. Assessments of bowing of nuclear fuel elements can help demonstrate the integrity of fuel and of surrounding components, as a function of operating conditions such

Response of FBGs in Microstructured and Bow Tie Fibers Embedded in Laminated Composite
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2009Fiber Bragg gratings in bow tie fiber and highly birefringent microstructured optical fiber are embedded in a carbon fiber reinforced epoxy. The Bragg peak wavelength shifts of the embedded gratings are measured under controlled bending, transversal loading, and thermal cycling of the composite sample.

A Yakut Composite Bow from the Toybokhoy Museum
Archaeology, Ethnology and Anthropology of Eurasia (Russian-language), 2020We give the fi rst description of an unusual composite bow of the Central Asian type, owned by the Toybokhoy Museum in the Suntarsky District of Yakutia, and provide information about its discovery. We foc us on the details and structural peculiarities of the specimen, and note that this refl ex composite bow differs in terms of construction and ...

Sinew-Reinforced and Composite Bows
1997This paper considers sinew-reinforced and composite bows from the perspective of several different sources including the archaeological record, historic documents, ethnographic observations, and experimental reconstructions by the authors. After describing bow technology in general, the discussion focuses on Asian composite bows from both ...
