Scattering loss in electro-optic particulate composite materials [PDF]
The effective permittivity dyadic of a composite material containing particulate constituent materials with one constituent having the ability to display the Pockels effect is computed, using an extended version of the strong-permittivity-fluctuation ...

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

RGD peptide modified RBC membrane functionalized biomimetic nanoparticles for thrombolytic therapy
In recent years, the fabrication of nano-drug delivery systems for targeted treatment of thrombus has become a research hotspot. In this study, we intend to construct a biomimetic nanomedicine for targeted thrombus treatment.

Material Geometry of Binary Composites [PDF]
The constitutive characterization of the uniformity and homogeneity of binary elastic composites is presented in terms of a combination of the material groupoids of the individual constituents. The incorporation of these two groupoids within a single double groupoid is proposed as a viable mathematical framework for a unified formulation of this and ...

We present the cellular transcription‐coupled Flp‐nick system allowing the introduction of a Top1‐mimicking cleavage complex (Flpcc) at a Flp recognition target site within a controllable LacZ gene. LacZ transcription leads to the collision of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) with Flpcc, and this causes RNAPII stalling, ubiquitination, and degradation.

Neo-Hookean fiber composites undergoing finite out-of-plane shear deformations [PDF]
The response of a neo-Hookean fiber composite undergoing finite out-of-plane shear deformation is examined. To this end an explicit close form solution for the out-of-plane shear response of a cylindrical composite element is introduced. We find that the overall response of the cylindrical composite element can be characterized by a fictitious ...

Electrical control of the linear optical properties of particulate composite materials [PDF]
The Bruggeman formalism for the homogenization of particulate composite materials is used to predict the effective permittivity dyadic of a two-constituent composite material with one constituent having the ability to display the Pockels effect. Scenarios wherein the constituent particles are randomly oriented, oriented spheres, and oriented spheroids ...

Homogenization of composite ferromagnetic materials [PDF]
The objective of this paper is to perform, by means ofΓ-convergenceandtwo-scale convergence, a rigorous derivation of the homogenized Gibbs–Landau free energy functional associated with a composite periodic ferromagnetic material, i.e. a ferromagnetic material in which the heterogeneities are periodically distributed inside the media.

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Magnetoelectric Effect in Ni-PZT-Ni Cylindrical Layered Composite Synthesized by Electro-deposition [PDF]
The magnetoelectric (ME) coupling of cylindrical trilayered composite was studied in this paper. The Ni-lead zirconate titanate (PZT)-Ni trilayered cylindrical composite was synthesized by electro-deposition. The maximum ME voltage coefficient of cylindrical ME composite is 35V/cm Oe, about three times higher than that of the plate trilayered composite
