Effects of aging time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 18Ni200 maraging steel

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
This study investigates the effect of aging treatment on the precipitates and reverse transformed austenite (RTA) in 18Ni200 maraging steel by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), and X-ray diffraction (XRD ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Multiscale Approach for the Design of Composite Sandwich Elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the present work, composite sandwich components, that perfectly match the challenging demands of lightweight and more customized structures, have been characterized and designed as a roof panels of a railway vehicle.

Prediction of delamination in braided composite T-piece specimens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper presents an approach to predict the delamination of braided composite T-piece specimen using cohesive models. As part of an investigation on simulation of delamination in T-piece specimens, cohesive elements from ABAQUS were employed in ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Advanced Materials for Composite Armour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
PhDComposite integral armour plays an important role in future combat system. Despite numerous experimental studies there are still disadvantages such as complex manufacturing process, relatively big damage area, difficult to repair and limit shape etc.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Future Design for Composite Airframe Structures – The Projects POSICOSS and COCOMAT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
European aircraft industry demands for reduced development and operating costs, by 20% and 50% in the short and long term, respectively. Contributions to this aim are provided by the completed project POSICOSS and the running follow-up project COCOMAT ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Theoretical and numerical investigation on internal instability phenomena in composite materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Instability phenomena occurring in the microstructure of composite materials are investigated. To this aim, a complete description of the mechanical behavior of bi-material interfaces in composite materials requires the definition of both a cohesive ...
