Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

The study on microstructure and mechanical properties of multi-component composite based on HDPE

open access: yesDesigned Monomers and Polymers, 2020
The basalt fiber (BF) and polyamide 6 (PA6) reinforced HDPE composite were prepared; the effects of adding fiber, organic filler, and polar component maleic anhydride (MA) on the microstructural characteristics of composites were investigated ...

Influence of Process and Material Parameters on Impact Response in Composite Structure: Methodology Using Design of Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Even if the mechanical performances of composite materials give new perspectives for the aircraft and space design, the variability of their behavior, linked to the presence of initial microscopic defects or led in service, constitute however a still ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Reliability analysis and micromechanics: A coupled approach for composite failure prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This work aims at associating two classical approaches for the design of composite materials: first, reliability methods that allow to account for the various uncertainties involved in the composite materials behaviour and lead to a rational estimation ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Effect of MoSi2 addition for ablation resistance of Ta0.8Hf0.2C-SiC-MoSi2 coating

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng
Ta0.8Hf0.2C exhibits excellent thermal protection properties, making it well-suited for high-temperature ablation environments. MoSi2, an outstanding sintering agent, is frequently employed in anti-ablation coatings.

Mechanical Fasteners for Advanced Composite Materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Advanced composite materials, which are increasingly being used to build aircraft, have different properties than the metals they replace. Fasteners intended for composite-material joints must be designed and selected to allow for these differences.

Energy bursts in fiber bundle models of composite materials

open access: yes, 2008
As a model of composite materials, a bundle of many fibers with stochastically distributed breaking thresholds for the individual fibers is considered.
