Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Basic enumeration of graph compositions with a restricted number of components [PDF]
The concept of graph compositions is related to several number theoretic concepts, including partitions of positive integers and the cardinality of the power set of finite sets. This paper examines graph compositions where the total number of components is restricted and illustrates a connection between graph compositions and Stirling numbers of the ...

Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Theoretical, Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Behavior of Adhesive Bonded Joints Thin-Walled Aluminum-Composite Structures Under Axial Loading [PDF]
Aluminum-composite hybrid structures have the ability to absorb high energy under crushing axial load. In this research, by using the advantages of adhesive bonding, the local reinforcement of square aluminum energy absorber has been done by composite ...

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...
