On composite tunnel number one links
An invariant of classical knots which is closely related to Heegaard splittings is the ``tunnel number'', the minimum number of arcs which need to be attached to the knot before the complement becomes a handlebody. It is known that tunnel number one knots are prime and links with three or more components have tunnel number at least two.

The Arabidopsis mutants hls1 hlh1 and amp1 lamp1 exhibit pleiotropic developmental phenotypes. Although the functions of the causative genes remain unclear, they act in the same genetic pathway and are thought to generate non‐cell‐autonomous signals.

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

We call a composite number q such that there exists a positive integer b with b^p == b (mod q) a prime pretender to base b. The least prime pretender to base b is the primary pretender q_b. It is shown that there are only 132 distinct primary pretenders,

Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples

Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

Fault Feature Extraction of Gearbox based on Adaptive VMD
In the noisy environment, the composite fault feature extraction is more difficult. The VMD is widely used in gearbox fault diagnosis, but it is a parametric decomposition method.

A sieve method for classifying composite numbers
A high-speed computer sieve used to count composite numbers in their various linear forms is described. A detailed description of the algorithm as well as a brief mention of the mechanics of the computer program is included. Actual number counts of classes of composite numbers in the integers to 2,000,000 are included together with an indication of the

There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...
