PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Flexural behaviour of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with a composite reinforcement layer: BFRP grid and ECC

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, a new strengthening technique for reinforced concrete (RC) beams is proposed by combining Basalt fiber Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) grid and Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) as a composite reinforcement layer (CRL).

Designing bioinspired composite reinforcement architectures via 3D magnetic printing

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
Discontinuous fibre composites represent a class of materials that are strong, lightweight and have remarkable fracture toughness. These advantages partially explain the abundance and variety of discontinuous fibre composites that have evolved in the ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Influence of matrix toughness and interfacial strength on the toughness of epoxy composites with ductile steel fabric reinforcement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In the last decades, several studies have been performed on polymers reinforced with steel cords or wires. However, the diameter of these steel reinforcements was still quite large (200 micron and more).

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Fibreglass Reinforced Composites

open access: yesCeROArt : Conservation, Exposition, Restauration d'Objets d'Art, 2022
The use of fibreglass products in conservation and available products that can be employed as joints are presented. The experiment relied on comparative tests of load capacity of the dowel joints in wood and fibreglass. The results of this pilot study did not allow to state the advantage of tested fibreglass joints over wood however it opened up the ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.
