Anthropogenic climate change has led to rapid and widespread changes in the atmosphere, land, ocean, cryosphere, and biosphere, leading to more pronounced weather and climate extremes globally. Recent IPCC reports have highlighted that the probability of

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Understanding Compound Events in Fragile Contexts
Interactions between natural, socioeconomic and political threats can lead to compound crises where the cumulative impacts are far larger than the sum of individual threats. The Horn of Africa is especially prone to compound crises. Many governments across the Horn of Africa, and elsewhere, struggle to address the drivers of compound risk.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Compound weather and climate events in 2024
Compound weather and climate events refer to multiple drivers and hazards that combine to cause impacts on ecosystems and society. These drivers and hazards can combine in various ways — across time (preconditioned and temporally compounding events), across space (spatially compounding events), and/or across multiple climate variables (multivariate ...

Shift of soil moisture-temperature coupling exacerbated 2022 compound hot-dry event in eastern China
Compound hot-dry events (CHDEs) are among the deadliest climate hazards and are occurring with increasing frequency under global warming. The Yangtze River Basin in China experienced a record-breaking CHDE in the summer of 2022, causing severe damage to ...

CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
