Growth effects of tin compounds in rats maintained in a trace element-controlled environment

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1970
Abstract In rats maintained on purified amino acid diets in trace element-controlled isolators, supplements of tin caused a significant growth effect. The diets were adequate in all known nutritional factors, including trace elements thus far identified as necessary, but they were composed of ingredients which kept trace element impurities at a ...

Effect of biocoordination compounds of trace elements on productivity of pregnant sows

Russian Agricultural Sciences, 2011
An increase of live weight, milk production, piglet birth weight, and litter weight of sows that received a ration with the addition of trace element compounds with ethylenediaminedisuccinic and methionine succinic acids is established. The live weight and survival of piglets produced from these animals were higher than those of the control animals ...

Toxic trace elements and organic compounds in the ambient air of Kabul, Afghanistan

Atmospheric Environment, 2006
Abstract To assess the ambient air quality in Kabul, we measured the contents in tree bark samples of 17 chemical elements by ICP–MS, polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and furans (PCDD/Fs) by GC–MS, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) by GC–ECD and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) by HPLC. While there were rather high levels of sulfur (up to 2277

Semi-volatile organic compounds and trace elements in the Yangtze River source of drinking water

Ecotoxicology, 2009
Determination of 24 semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) and 24 trace elements in water samples was conducted in order to investigate the quality of the Nanjing source of drinking water taken from Yangtze River. The total concentrations of SVOCs and trace elements were in the range of 1,951-11,098 ng/l and 51,274-72,384 microg/l, respectively.

Modeling of experimental data on trace elements and organic compounds content in industrial waste dumps

Chemosphere, 2016
The main objective of the study presented was to investigate the differences between 20 mine waste dumps located in the Silesian Region of Poland and Czech Republic, in terms of trace elements and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons contents. The Principal Component Analysis and Hierarchical Clustering Analysis were applied in exploration of the studied ...

Accumulation of metals, trace elements and semi-volatile organic compounds on exterior window surfaces in Baltimore

Environmental Pollution, 2003
Organic films have been found to develop on window surfaces [Diamond et al., Environmental Science and Technology 34 (2000a) 2900]. The film contains organic compounds that are in dynamic equilibrium with the gas-phase in air, and organic and inorganic compounds and elements associated with deposited air particles.

The role of sulfur assimilation and sulfur-containing compounds in trace element homeostasis in plants

Environmental and Experimental Botany, 2011
Sulfur assimilation and production of sulfur-containing compounds are essential biological activities that play critical roles in many biological processes, including the role of sulfur containing compounds such as glutathione and phytochelatin in trace element homeostasis in plants.

Preconcentration of trace elements from pure manganese and manganese compounds with activated carbon as collector

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1977
A method is described for separation of traces of Bi, Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, In, Ni. Pb, Tl, and Zn from pure manganese and manganese compounds and their determination by flame a.a.s. After the metal or manganese dioxide samples have been dissolved in acid (and manganese salts in water) the trace elements are compleed with potassium xanthogenate. The solution

Trace Element and Organohalogen Compound Contamination in the Supraglacial Debris of Italian Glaciers

Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology
Glaciers represent unique and threatened ecosystems, which have accumulated and continue receiving diverse, potentially toxic, and environmental contaminants released by past and ongoing anthropic activities. The accelerated ablation and retreat of glaciers due to climate warming can consequently alter the fate of contaminants trapped within their ice ...
