Compressibility effects on the Rayleigh-Taylor instability growth between immiscible fluids

open access: yes, 2003
The linearized Navier-Stokes equations for a system of superposed immiscible compressible ideal fluids are analyzed. The results of the analysis reconcile the stabilizing and destabilizing effects of compressibility reported in the literature.

Added Prognostic Value of EEG Reactivity in Comatose Patients Following Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the added prognostic value of EEG reactivity for favorable outcome compared with background analysis during and after targeted temperature management (TTM). Methods Prospective observational cohort study of comatose post–cardiac arrest patients admitted to a single academic center between 2017 and 2022, all undergoing ...

Well-posedness for compressible MHD system with highly oscillating initial data

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we transform compressible MHD system written in Euler coordinate to Lagrange coordinate in critical Besov space. Then we construct unique local solutions for compressible MHD system.

Compressed Context Modeling for Text Compression

open access: yes2011 Data Compression Conference, 2011
In text compression, statistical context modeling aims to construct a model to calculate the probability distribution of a character based upon its context. The order -- $k$ context of a symbol is defined as the string formed by its preceding $k$ symbols.

Ofatumumab in Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody–Associated Disease: A Comparison With Rituximab

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ofatumumab in patients with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody–associated disease (MOGAD), and compare it with rituximab. Methods We conducted a single–center, observational study including 22 MOGAD patients treated with ofatumumab and 21 treated with rituximab.

Experimental study of land subsidence in response to groundwater withdrawal and recharge in Changping District of Beijing.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Over exploitation of groundwater in Changping District of Beijing city has caused serious land subsidence in the past decades. In recent years, the operation of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project has reduced the land subsidence rate. In this paper,

Compression of Meanders [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Discrete Mathematics, 2013
This paper refers to the algorithmic transformation of a meander to its uniquely defined compression. We obtain this directly from meandric permutations, thus creating representations of large classes of meanders of different orders. We prove basic properties, give arithmetic results, and produce generating procedures.

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.

Does Long‐Term Lower Extremity Strength Training in Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis and Varus Alignment Reduce Knee Joint Loading During Gait?

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

The one-dimensional Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model in the heavy-fermion limit

open access: yes, 2007
We study the phase diagram of the zero-temperature, one-dimensional Bose-Fermi-Hubbard model for fixed fermion density in the limit of small fermionic hopping.
