A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Vertebroplasty for Vertebral Compression Fracture
The patients with intensive pain caused by the vertebra body fracture were treated by application of bone cement under local or general anesthesia, by means of diascopy through unilateral transpedicular approach. The intensity of pain was followed-up on the VAS scale before surgery, 24 hours after surgery and three months after surgery.

The design, manufacture and analysis of a new implant for fracture fixation in human and veterinary orthopaedic surgery: the bone fastenerod [PDF]
Fracture fixation in humans and animals has troubled surgeons and scientists since first it was attempted right up to the present day. At every milestone of achievement in the understanding and practice of fracture repair there has remained a significant

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...
