cell2mol: encoding chemistry to interpret crystallographic data

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2022
The creation and maintenance of crystallographic data repositories is one of the greatest data-related achievements in chemistry. Platforms such as the Cambridge Structural Database host what is likely the most diverse collection of synthesizable ...

Impact of Chemical Fluctuations on Stacking Fault Energies of CrCoNi and CrMnFeCoNi High Entropy Alloys from First Principles

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
Medium and high entropy alloys (MEAs and HEAs) based on 3d transition metals, such as face-centered cubic (fcc) CrCoNi and CrMnFeCoNi alloys, reveal remarkable mechanical properties.

Nephrogenic Rests/Nephroblastomatosis in Patients With Unilateral Wilms Tumor Are Not Associated With an Increased Risk of Relapse: An Analysis of Patients Treated on the SIOP‐WT‐2001 Protocol in the SIOP‐UK‐CCLG and SIOP‐GPOH Studies (2001–2022)

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Nephrogenic rests (NRs) and nephroblastomatosis (NBM) are precursor lesions for development of Wilms tumor (WT). Their association with the risk of relapse has not been properly assessed, partly due to misunderstanding of their diagnostic criteria and terminology.

Set-based design of mechanical systems with design robustness integrated [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents a method for parameter design of mechanical products based on a set-based approach. Set-based concurrent engineering emphasises on designing in a multi-stakeholder environment with concurrent involvement of the stakeholders in the ...

Serum Myonectin Levels Are Positively Associated With Physical Function and Lower Frailty‐Related Limitation in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients frequently suffer from frailty, characterized by reduced physical function and poor prognosis. Myokines, such as myonectin, secreted by muscle, are emerging regulators of systemic health. This study investigated the relationship between serum myonectin, adipokines (adiponectin, omentin), and ...

Ensemble-Based AI Learning Algorithm to Predict Drag Force for Particle Clusters

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this work, we propose a novel approach that uses an ensemble of deep neural networks (DNN) and convolutional neural networks (CNN) to predict the drag coefficient of small, irregular-shaped particles in low-Reynolds-number flows.

Strategic Development of Dielectric Strength Prediction Protocol for Perfluorocarbon and Nonperfluorocarbon Compounds

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Predicting the dielectric strengths of organic compounds is critical for identifying potential insulating gases. However, experimental evaluation techniques are time-consuming, and current computational protocols are limited in scope.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
