Multivariate Stochastic Volatility Modeling via Integrated Nested Laplace Approximations: A Multifactor Extension

open access: yesEconometrics
This study introduces a multivariate extension to the class of stochastic volatility models, employing integrated nested Laplace approximations (INLA) for estimation. Bayesian methods for estimating stochastic volatility models through Markov Chain Monte

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Application of M3GM in a Petroleum Reservoir Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Science and Technology, 2017
Reservoir formations exhibit a wide range of heterogeneity from micro to macro scales. A simulation that involves all of these data is highly time consuming or almost impossible; hence, a new method is needed to meet the computational cost. Moreover, the

Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

A path to computational efficiency through membrane computing [PDF]

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 2019
The search for new mechanisms and tools allowing us to tackle the famousPversusNPproblem from new perspectives is an important task, due to the relevance of that problem. The concept of efficiency of computing models is associated with the ability to solveintractable (in a classical sense) problems in polynomial time.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
