Bilinear Form and Two Bäcklund Transformations for the (3+1)-Dimensional Jimbo-Miwa Equation

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2015
With Bell polynomials and symbolic computation, this paper investigates the (3+1)-dimensional Jimbo-Miwa equation, which is one of the equations in the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy of integrable systems.

Geometric shape and tensile forces on silo bags for grain storage

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Engineering, 2019
This work consists in the analytical derivation and numerical solution of the equation which determines the shape of the section of a silo bag: a long horizontal cylindrical plastic bag filled with either a liquid or a granular material which behaves ...

Experimental study on artificial environment to promote onset of turbulence

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2020
A wind tunnel experiment was performed to investigate the requirements for providing a suitable environment for easily creating a localized turbulent region in a laminar boundary layer.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Model Formulation of an Urban Canopy Model by Means of Detailed CFD Simulation

open access: yesComputation
Urban areas significantly influence atmospheric flow fields and momentum exchange processes, which are relevant for wind energy applications and meso-scale atmospheric modeling.

MDSuite: comprehensive post-processing tool for particle simulations

open access: yesJournal of Cheminformatics, 2023
Particle-Based (PB) simulations, including Molecular Dynamics (MD), provide access to system observables that are not easily available experimentally. However, in most cases, PB data needs to be processed after a simulation to extract these observables ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Multiple Aneurysms AnaTomy CHallenge 2018 (MATCH): uncertainty quantification of geometric rupture risk parameters

open access: yesBioMedical Engineering OnLine, 2019
Background Geometric parameters have been proposed for prediction of cerebral aneurysm rupture risk. Predicting the rupture risk for incidentally detected unruptured aneurysms could help clinicians in their treatment decision.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an
