Area preservation in computational fluid dynamics

open access: yes, 1999
Incompressible two-dimensional flows such as the advection (Liouville) equation and the Euler equations have a large family of conservation laws related to conservation of area.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Comparative numerical studies of the mechanical efficiency of sandwich-panels with different non-/auxetic prismatic and lattice cores subjected to ballistic loading

open access: yesForces in Mechanics
Civil as well as military facilities, vehicles and applications must increasingly meet higher safety standards to ensure the highest possible protection against extraordinary stresses such as ballistic and/or air-blast loading.

Effect of secondary swirl in supersonic gas and plasma flows in the self-vacuuming vortex tube

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This article presents the results of simulation for a special type of vortex tubes – self-vacuuming vortex tube (SVT), for which extreme values of temperature separation and pressure drop are realized.

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

Virtual integration platform for computational fluid dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools used in shipbuilding industry involve multiple disciplines, such as resistance, manoeuvring, and cavitation. Traditionally, the analysis was performed separately and sequentially in each discipline, which often ...

Influence of Viscosity on the Shape of an Air Taylor Bubble in a Stagnant Liquid Under Turbulent Condition in Falling Film

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2019
This work aims to find the influence of the liquid viscosity on the shape of an air Taylor bubble, rising up in a pipe column which contains the liquid under conditions that the liquid is stagnant and the Froude number is approximately equal to 0.35 ...
