Whole‐Brain Diffusion MRI at 7T With Universal Multiband GRAPE pTx Pulses

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
Purpose To improve signal strength and homogeneity of whole‐brain diffusion‐weighted imaging (DWI) at 7T. Methods Universal multiband excitation and refocusing pulses were optimized with the gradient ascent pulse engineering (GRAPE) algorithm across a database of B1+$$ {B}_1^{+} $$ and B0$$ {B}_0 $$ maps obtained from 20 subjects.

Computational ghost imaging versus imaging laser radar for three-dimensional imaging

open access: yes, 2012
Ghost imaging has been receiving increasing interest for possible use as a remote-sensing system. There has been little comparison, however, between ghost imaging and the imaging laser radars with which it would be competing.

Self-Modulated Ghost Imaging in Dynamic Scattering Media

open access: yes, 2023
In this paper, self-modulated ghost imaging (SMGI) in a surrounded scattering medium is proposed. Different from traditional ghost imaging, SMGI can take advantage of the dynamic scattering medium that originally affects the imaging quality and generate ...

Deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and improved YOLOv9 for efficient benthos detection: a case study at Lake Hamana, Japan

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study presents a UAV‐based framework that integrates deep learning‐based super‐resolution reconstruction and an enhanced YOLO detector to improve centimetre‐scale benthic organism monitoring. Using hermit crabs in Lake Hamana, a coastal lagoon in Japan, as a case study, the method substantially enhanced small‐object detection performance ...

Accounting for animal movement during aerial imaging surveys

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Animals are not stationary during aerial surveys; if their movements are related to the movement of the aerial platform, then bias can be introduced into subsequent population count estimates. We sought to establish a framework for assessing the impacts of animal movement on count error and platform bias by comparing aggregated counts and relative ...

High-Quality Computational Ghost Imaging Using an Optimum Distance Search Method

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We propose an optimum distance search method for realizing high-quality computational ghost imaging (CGI). The proposed method, which utilizes the advantages of compressive sensing and the CGI technique, is composed of two search steps. The first step is

Efficient and Accurate Spatio‐Temporal Population Monitoring of Mobile Animals Using Drones and Computer Vision

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Drones and computer vision offer an efficient way to estimate animal populations over localized areas, but surveys often require stitching many overlapping images together. If animals move during the survey, traditional orthomosaic‐based counting methods become unreliable, with some animals appearing in multiple locations while others appear not at all,

An overview of joint activities on computational imaging and compressive sensing systems by NATO SET-232

open access: yes, 2022
Paper 106690H, 19 S.Conventional electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) systems (i.e., active, passive, multiband and hyperspectral) capture an image by optically focusing the incident light at each of the millions of pixels in a focal plane array.

Integrating multimodal data and machine learning for entrepreneurship research

open access: yesStrategic Entrepreneurship Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Extant research in neuroscience suggests that human perception is multimodal in nature—we model the world integrating diverse data sources such as sound, images, taste, and smell. Working in a dynamic environment, entrepreneurs are expected to draw on multimodal inputs in their decision making.

Multi‐image encryption and authentication using computational ghost imaging and singular value decomposition

open access: yesIET Image Processing
The non‐local imaging characteristics of computational ghost imaging (CGI) make it widely used in the field of information security. However, the information processing method based on traditional CGI has some problems in the process of multi‐image ...
