A Virtual Clinical Trial of Psychedelics to Treat Patients With Disorders of Consciousness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Disorders of consciousness after severe brain injury are marked by reduced complexity of brain activity and limited treatment options. Using personalized whole‐brain models, this study shows that simulated lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and psilocybin shift patient brain dynamics closer to criticality.

Diffusion‐MRI‐Based Estimation of Cortical Architecture via Machine Learning (DECAM) in Primate Brains

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present Diffusion‐MRI‐based Estimation of Cortical Architecture via Machine Learning (DECAM), a deep‐learning framework for estimating primate brain cortical architecture optimized with best response constraint and cortical label vectors. Trained using macaque brain high‐resolution multi‐shell dMRI and histology data, DECAM generates high‐fidelity ...

Accuracy Evaluation of Oncentra™ TPS in HDR Brachytherapy of Nasopharynx Cancer Using EGSnrc Monte Carlo Code

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Physics and Engineering, 2015
Background: HDR brachytherapy is one of the commonest methods of nasopharyngeal cancer treatment. In this method, depending on how advanced one tumor is, 2 to 6 Gy dose as intracavitary brachytherapy is prescribed.

Dose enhancement of nanogold for prostate radiation: Monte Carlo simulation using the ICRP voxel computational male phantom

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science
Using a male ICRP voxel computational phantom, Monte Carlo simulations were performed to estimate the dose enhancement ratio (DER) in prostate radiation for 6 and 10 MV photon energy. A fully validated linear accelerator head was used, initially with a single beam to calculate the DER for different concentrations of nanogold mixed with prostate tissue.

Intelligent Stain‐Free Histology on Structural Colorimetric Nanocavities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chen and Gan et al. introduce a label‐free imaging platform using inexpensive Nanocavity‐on‐Silicon (NOS) slides. These slides transform subtle tissue variations into vivid structural colors, enabling high‐contrast histological imaging under a regular optical microscope. This stain‐free approach reveals morphological details comparable to traditional H&

A simplified model of the source channel of the Leksell Gamma Knife$^(R)$: testing multisource configurations with PENELOPE

open access: yes, 2004
A simplification of the source channel geometry of the Leksell Gamma Knife$^{\circledR}$, recently proposed by the authors and checked for a single source configuration (Al-Dweri et al 2004), has been used to calculate the dose distributions along the $x$

A comparison of cone-beam computed tomography image quality obtained in phantoms with different fields of view, voxel size, and angular rotation for iCAT NG

open access: yesJournal of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, 2016
Objectives: To characterize cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) image quality (IQ) and dose for different fields of view (FOVs), voxel size, and angular rotation. Materials and Methods: IQ parameters, including image noise, homogeneity, geometric distortion, artifacts, contrast resolution and spatial resolution, and radiation dose, were measured for ...
