Kirkendall Effect in Twin-Roll Cast AA 3003 Aluminum Alloy

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
The formation of an inhomogeneous structure with central segregation occurs in commercial twin-roll cast AA 3003 aluminum alloy. The segregations form as manganese, iron, and silicon-rich channels spread in the rolling direction.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Identifying subtle differences : a radiomics model assessment for gastric schwannomas and gastrointestinal stromal tumors across risk grades

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
ObjectiveThis study aims to develop and validate an enhanced computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics model to differentiate gastric schwannomas (GS) from gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) across various risk categories.MethodsThis retrospective ...

Stroke risk prediction by color Doppler ultrasound of carotid artery-based deep learning using Inception V3 and VGG-16

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2023
PurposeThis study aims to automatically classify color Doppler images into two categories for stroke risk prediction based on the carotid plaque. The first category is high-risk carotid vulnerable plaque, and the second is stable carotid plaque.MethodIn ...

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Indeterminate pulmonary subsolid nodules in patients with no history of cancer: growing prediction, CT pattern, and pathological diagnosis

open access: yesDiagnostic and Interventional Radiology, 2022
PURPOSEWe aimed to evaluate and compare the growth patterns among pathological types of inde- terminate subsolid nodules in patients without a history of cancer as observed on computed tomography (CT).METHODSThis retrospective study included 77 ...

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein
