Spin current generator based on topological insulator coupled to ferromagnetic insulators

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2012
We propose a spin current generator based on a topological insulator current-in-plane spin valve, consisting of a 3D topological insulator sandwiched between two ferromagnetic insulator layers. The “on” and “off” states of the spin current can be toggled

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Effect of surface state hybridization on current-induced spin-orbit torque in thin topological insulator films

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
We investigate the thickness optimization for maximum current-induced spin-orbit torque (SOT) generated by topological surface states (TSS’s) in a bilayer system comprising of a ferromagnetic layer coupled to a thin topological insulator (TI) film.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Dose-dependent chemotranscriptomics analysis of the differential effects of vitamin D3 on gene expression in human neuronal progenitor cells NPC and in MCF7 tumor cells

open access: yesФармакокинетика и Фармакодинамика, 2018
Resume. Different cell types respond differently to the effects of vitamin D3. The paper presents the results of a dose-dependent differential chemotranscriptome analysis of vitamin D3 in relation to breast tumor cells (MCF7 line) and neuron progenitor ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Ensuring data storage security in Cloud Computing [PDF]

open access: yes2009 17th International Workshop on Quality of Service, 2009
Cloud Computing has been envisioned as the next-generation architecture of IT Enterprise. In contrast to traditional solutions, where the IT services are under proper physical, logical and personnel controls, Cloud Computing moves the application software and databases to the large data centers, where the management of the data and services may not be ...
