Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

A data‐driven inertia adequacy‐based approach for sustainable expansion planning in distributed generations‐penetrated power grids

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2022
Reduced rotational inertia in power grids due to increasing penetration levels of distributed generations (DGs) may lead to degraded performance of the traditional frequency control scheme.

Harmonic Response Analysis of Tank Design Effect on Ultrasonic Cleaning Process

open access: yesFluids, 2022
Several ultrasonic cleaning tanks (UCTs) had a problem: a manufacturer complained that there were damages to cleaning objects, they were unclarified, and it needed to be abruptly solved.

We Are Living in a Computer Simulation

open access: yes, 2016
This paper posits that we are living in a computer simulation to simulate physical reality which has the same computer simulation process as virtual reality (computer-simulated reality). The computer simulation process involves the digital representation

Mechanistic basis for inhibition of the extended‐spectrum β‐lactamase GES‐1 by enmetazobactam and tazobactam

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is of huge importance, resulting in over 1 million deaths each year. Here, we describe how a new drug, enmetazobactam, designed to help fight resistant bacterial diseases, inhibits a key enzyme (GES‐1) responsible for AMR. Our data show it is a more potent inhibitor than the related tazobactam, with high‐level computation

The Checking of Computer Logic by Simulation on a Computer [PDF]

open access: yesThe Computer Journal, 1963
The proposed specification of the Sabrac digital computer was first discussed in papers presented to the International Conference on Information Processing (Lehman, 1959) and to the First Annual Conference of the British Computer Society. Since that time the specification of the machine has changed considerably.

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.
