The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Ground state solutions for a class of Schrödinger–Poisson–Slater equation with Coulomb–Sobolev critical exponent

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems
This paper is concerned with the Schrödinger–Poisson–Slater equation involving the Coulomb–Sobolev exponent. We apply the concentration compactness principle and the Pohožaev-type identity to overcome loss of compactness caused by the Coulomb exponent ...

Existence and multiplicity of solutions for fractional Schödinger equation involving a critical nonlinearity

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2019
In this paper, we investigate the fractional Schödinger equation involving a critical growth. By using the principle of concentration compactness and the variational method, we obtain some new existence results for the above equation, which improve the ...

The concentration-compactness principle in the Calculus of Variations. The Locally compact case, part 2 [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales de l'Institut Henri Poincaré C, Analyse non linéaire, 1984
In this paper (sequel of Part 1) we investigate further applications of the concentration-compactness principle to the solution of various minimization problems in unbounded domains. In particular we present here the solution of minimization problems associated with nonlinear field equations.

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Existence of solutions to quasilinear elliptic systems with combined critical Sobolev-Hardy terms

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
This article is devoted to the study of multiple positive solutions to a singular elliptic system where the nonlinearity involves a combination of concave and convex terms.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
