Vancomycin dosing and target attainment in children

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology, Immunology and Infection, 2017
Background/Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the best dosing strategy for vancomycin by studying the associated factors and examining correlations between the area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) values and trough ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Analysis of groundwater regime on the basis of stream flow hydrograph [PDF]

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Architecture and Civil Engineering, 2012
During the drought the flow in streams is reduced and is dominated by base flow. Baseflows are characteristic of low flow periods and provide information on available water resources in the basin during the drought, particularly on the aquifer and ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Variation of absorptance-curve shape with changes in pigment concentration

open access: yes, 1968
A complete quantitative analysis is presented of changes in the shape of the spectral absorptance curve of any Beer's-law pigment solution (or other Bouguer's-Iaw material) as concentration of the pigment, or thickness of the solution layer, is varied ...

Standard curve for sDPP4 concentration.

open access: yes, 2022
To determine the concentration of sDPP4 in the plasm samples, Graphpad Prism was used to fit a standard curve using nonlinear regression (curve fitting). The samples were diluted 100-fold before running the assay and the result was then multiplied by the

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
