Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

The temperature dependence of fatigue behavior in nickel‐based superalloys is investigated through high‐resolution measurements of plastic localization. While increasing temperature reduces localization and enhances fatigue performance in René 88DT, Inconel 718 exhibits a sharp degradation at intermediate temperature due to intensified slip ...

Spectral momentum integration: hybrid optimization of frequency and time domain gradients
We propose Spectral Momentum Integration (SMI), an optimization enhancement that processes gradients in both frequency and time domains. SMI applies the Fast Fourier Transform to selectively filter gradient frequency components before blending them with ...

How Materials Support Conceptual Blending in Ideation
While combining materials as sources of inspiration is a familiar strategy in design ideation, the intricacy of how materials affect the emergence of concepts has not been fully examined.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Smooth piecewise polynomial blending operations for implicit shapes
In this paper, we present a new set of blending operations for implicitly defined geometric shapes. The proposed shape operators are piecewise polynomial and blending range controllable, and can be constructed to any required degree of smoothness.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...
