Eliciting concepts of place for text-based image retrieval
Proceedings of the 4th ACM workshop on Geographical information retrieval, 2007This paper describes research being employed in the Tripod project to improve the retrieval of photographs through a comprehensive knowledge of where they were taken. The methods described here attempt to elicit semantics, and thus terms for use in indexing, related to the idea of place from theoretical geography.

Concept mapping for eliciting verified personal ontologies
International Journal of Continuing Engineering Education and Lifelong Learning, 2004Concept mapping is a valuable technique for education evaluation. This paper describes VCM, a system based on this approach: it supports teachers in creating concept-mapping tasks intended to capture the student's understanding or personal ontology of a small domain.

CUES THAT ELICIT ANALYTIC‐DEDUCTIVE METHODS IN CONCEPT ATTAINMENT*
British Journal of Psychology, 1964In inference concept attainment some subjects draw conclusions about concepts (global‐hypothesis method) and some subjects draw conclusions about the relevance or irrelevance of dimensions (analytic‐deductive method). Experiments were performed to determine whether the presence or absence of certain cues accompanying inference concept attainment ...

A questionnaire to elicit the mathematical concept images of engineering students
International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology, 2000As part of a study into the mathematical understanding of engineering students, a questionnaire has been developed which seeks to elicit from students their concept images attached to key mathematical concepts. The questionnaire seeks to address both the level of understanding of the students and the mode in which the students hold the concept image ...

The concept of induction and elicitation as an immunotherapeutic approach.
National Cancer Institute monograph, 1979The concept of "induction and elicitation," propounded by Stuart Mudd, circumvents the dangers of infecting the immunologically impaired individual without abrogating the effectiveness of the antigenic stimulus provided by an initial infection with living organisms.

MadSex: collecting a spoken corpus of indirectly elicited sexual concepts
Language Resources and Evaluation, 2018This paper introduces MadSex, a spoken corpus of 54 sociolinguistic interviews in Spanish based on the topic of sexuality. It was collected in order to study the cognitive sociolinguistic variation of sexual concepts. The paper presents and justifies methodological decisions taken during design, collection and transcription stages.

AUTOMATED REQUIREMENTS ELICITATION: COMBINING A MODEL-DRIVEN APPROACH WITH CONCEPT REUSE
International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, 2003Extracting pertinent and useful information from customers has long plagued the process of requirements elicitation. This paper presents a new approach to support the elicitation process. This approach combines various techniques for requirements elicitation which include model-based concept acquisition, goal-driven structured interview and concept ...
