An interdisciplinary theory of implementation, embedding and integration: the development of normalization process theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Theories are important tools in the social and natural sciences. The methods by which they are derived are rarely described and discussed. Normalization Process Theory explains how new technologies, ways of acting, and ways of working become ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

"The Sociology of European Integration" [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
[From the introduction]. In recent critical literature reviews we have attempted to round up and summarise the existing ‘sociological’ style literature, as well as point to new and ongoing work that seems to advance a new agenda for sociology in EU ...

Grammatical Conceptualization as a Poetic Strategy in E. E. Cummings' yes is a pleasant country

open access: yesMiscelánea: A Journal of English and American Studies, 2003
This article applies the theoretical principles of cognitive linguistics to E.E. Cummings’ poetic composition yes is a pleasant country. It combines the perspectives of conceptual metaphor theory, blending theory and the conceptual integration network ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Representation and structuring of knowledge in the semantic oriented computing environment. Part 1. Integration conceptual graphs and logical networks based on formalization of structured situations

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион:Технические науки, 2023
Background. A technique for deep knowledge structuring in a semantic-oriented intelligent computing environment based on the expansion of the descriptive capabilities of Petri nets by integrating them with conceptual graphs is proposed.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Putting theory into practice: The creation of REALs in the context of today's universities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Rich Environments for Active Learning (REALs), as described by R. Scott Grabinger and Joanna Dunlap, are comprehensive educational systems based on constructivist principles that present an intellectual and practical challenge to university lecturers. As

Combinatorial Syntagmatics: from the Theory of Valency to the Theory of Conceptual Integration

open access: yesScientific Journal of National Pedagogical Dragomanov University. Series 9. Current Trends in Language Development, 2018
The topical and complicated problem of modern linguistics has been examined in the article. It deals with the study of the processes and mechanisms of creating new senses by the various combinations of both language signs among themselves and the transformation of the meanings of ready-made signs.
