Error Analysis and Model Adaptivity for Flows in Gas Networks

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2018
In the simulation and optimization of natural gas flow in a pipeline network, a hierarchy of models is used that employs different formulations of the Euler equations. While the optimization is performed on piecewise linear models, the flow simulation is

Solving ill-conditioned linear equations using simulated annealing method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hyperstructures, 2018
The purpose of this paper is to using the Simulated Annealing method to solving a linear equations system which have an ill-conditioned coefficients matrix. A linear equation system is called ill-conditioned if its condition number be large.

Approximate Zeros and Condition Numbers

open access: yesJournal of Complexity, 1999
The paper is an addendum to the paper \textit{F. Cucker} and \textit{S. Smale} [Lect. Notes Comput. Sci. 1461, 115-126 (1998; Zbl 0929.65027)]. Here, the author proves the same result for a different condition number.

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

A note on the characterizations of the distributions of the condition numbers of real Gaussian matrices

open access: yesSpecial Matrices, 2018
Many researchers and authors have studied the distributions of the condition numbers of real Gaussian matrices, which appear in many fields of pure and applied sciences, such as, probability, statistics, multivariate statistics, linear algebra, operator ...

Quantitative Controllability Analysis of IEEE Power Network

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The previous research on the controllability of complex networks is qualitative issue which can only identify whether the network is controllable or not, and it is difficult to assess the controlled ability of network.

Condition Number and Clustering-Based Efficiency Improvement of Reduced-Order Solvers for Contact Problems Using Lagrange Multipliers

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
This paper focuses on reduced-order modeling for contact mechanics problems treated by Lagrange multipliers. The high nonlinearity of the dual solutions lead to poor classical data compression.

Tails of Condition Number Distributions [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 2005
Let $\kappa$ be the condition number of an $m$-by-$n$ matrix with independent standard Gaussian entries, either real ($\beta = 1$) or complex ($\beta = 2$). The major result is the existence of a constant $C$ (depending on $m$, $n$, and $\beta$) such that $P[\kappa > x] < C \, x^{-\beta}$ for all $x$.

Health‐Related Social Needs in Children With Sickle Cell Disease Are Associated With Worse Health‐Related Quality of Life

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with sickle cell disease (SCD) face multiple acute and chronic medical complications that may impact their quality of life as reported by patients themselves. Health‐related social needs (HRSNs), such as food and housing insecurity, are common in people with SCD, but the association between HRSNs and patient‐reported ...

Observability-Driven Path Planning Design for Securing Three-Dimensional Navigation Performance of LiDAR SLAM

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
This paper presents an efficient method for securing navigation performance by suppressing divergence risk of LiDAR SLAM through a newly proposed geometric observability analysis in a three-dimensional point cloud map.
