Zinc finger homeobox-3 (ZFHX3) orchestrates genome-wide daily gene expression in the suprachiasmatic nucleus

open access: yeseLife
The mammalian suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), situated in the ventral hypothalamus, directs daily cellular and physiological rhythms across the body. The SCN clockwork is a self-sustaining transcriptional-translational feedback loop (TTFL) that in turn ...

Digital Twin Simulations Toolbox of the Nitrogen‐Vacancy Center in Diamond

open access: yesAdvanced Quantum Technologies, EarlyView.
The Nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) center in diamond is a key platform within quantum technologies. This work introduces a Python based digital‐twin of the NV, where the spin dynamics of the system is simulated without relying on commonly used approximations, such as the adoption of rotating frame. The digital‐twin is validated through three different examples,

Direct Observation of Second Order Atom Tunnelling

open access: yes, 2007
Tunnelling of material particles through a classically impenetrable barrier constitutes one of the hallmark effects of quantum physics. When interactions between the particles compete with their mobility through a tunnel junction, intriguing novel ...

Deep Reinforcement Learning‐Based Control for Real‐Time Hybrid Simulation of Civil Structures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Real‐time Hybrid Simulation (RTHS) is a cyber‐physical technique that studies the dynamic behavior of a system by combining physical and numerical components that are coupled through a boundary condition enforcer. In structural engineering, the numerical components are subjected to environmental loads that become dynamic displacements of the ...

Hydroxide Mobility in Aqueous Systems: Combining Ab Initio Accuracy with Millisecond Timescales

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A multiscale simulation strategy for hydroxide transport in aqueous potassium hydroxide is presented, integrating ab initio molecular dynamics with force field and Monte Carlo methods. The approach links femtosecond‐scale hydrogen‐bond dynamics to millisecond‐scale diffusion while maintaining near‐ab initio accuracy.

Members Only—The Emergence of the Business Family as a Professionalized and Differentiated Organizational System

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The importance of business families is increasingly gaining attention. However, to truly understand business families and their dynamics, they must be viewed as distinct systems. Since this area has received limited scholarly focus, we argue that forming a new system is more than just an extension.

What Program for Love in the 21st Century? Thinking With and Beyond Luhmann

open access: yesSystems Research and Behavioral Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT From a sociological perspective, the paper examines how normative frameworks for intimate relationships have changed since the publication of Luhmann's Love as Passion (1982). Building on Luhmann's notion of a program for love, we discuss his claim that late 20th century love semantics were organized around a program of understanding. We argue

Record‐breaking May heat in the UK: contrasting the extreme temperatures of 2024 and 1944 using climate attribution

open access: yesWeather, EarlyView.
This study quantifies the likelihood of May temperature extremes in present, natural (climatology based on pre‐industrial forcings) and future climates. The attribution applies in the context of a May heatwave comparable to the record‐breaking 1944 event and the persistent record‐breaking monthly‐mean temperature from 2024.

TNCOA: Efficient Exploration via Observation‐Action Constraint on Trajectory‐Based Intrinsic Reward

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Efficient exploration is critical in handling sparse rewards and partial observability in deep reinforcement learning. However, most existing intrinsic reward methods based on novelty rely on single‐step observations or Euclidean distances.
