KGNER: Improving Chinese Named Entity Recognition by BERT Infused with the Knowledge Graph

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Recently, the lexicon method has been proven to be effective for named entity recognition (NER). However, most existing lexicon-based methods cannot fully utilize common-sense knowledge in the knowledge graph.

Stable Imitation of Multigait and Bipedal Motions for Quadrupedal Robots Over Uneven Terrains

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
How are quadrupedal robots empowered to execute complex navigation tasks, including multigait and bipedal motions? Challenges in stability and real‐world adaptation persist, especially with uneven terrains and disturbances. This article presents an imitation learning framework that enhances adaptability and robustness by incorporating long short‐term ...

Peaks and dips in Gaussian random fields: a new algorithm for the shear eigenvalues, and the excursion set theory

open access: yes, 2013
We present a new algorithm to sample the constrained eigenvalues of the initial shear field associated with Gaussian statistics, called the `peak/dip excursion-set-based' algorithm, at positions which correspond to peaks or dips of the correlated density

Continual Learning for Multimodal Data Fusion of a Soft Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Models trained on a single data modality often struggle to generalize when exposed to a different modality. This work introduces a continual learning algorithm capable of incrementally learning different data modalities by leveraging both class‐incremental and domain‐incremental learning scenarios in an artificial environment where labeled data is ...

S3CRF: Sparse Spatial-Spectral Conditional Random Field Target Detection Framework for Airborne Hyperspectral Data

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Airborne hyperspectral data have both high spectral and spatial resolutions. Although the finer spatial resolution allows more abundant spatial characteristics to be exhibited, the spectral variability problem remains. However, few of the current spatial-

Direct Numerical Simulations of the Kraichnan Model: Scaling Exponents and Fusion Rules

open access: yes, 1997
We present results from direct numerical simulations of the Kraichnan model for passive scalar advection by a rapidly-varying random scaling velocity field for intermediate values of the velocity scaling exponent.

ChicGrasp: Imitation‐Learning‐Based Customized Dual‐Jaw Gripper Control for Manipulation of Delicate, Irregular Bio‐Products

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Automated poultry processing lines still rely on humans to lift slippery, easily bruised carcasses onto a shackle conveyor. Deformability, anatomical variance, and hygiene rules make conventional suction and scripted motions unreliable. We present ChicGrasp, an end‐to‐end hardware‐software co‐designed imitation learning framework, to offer a ...

Conditional Random Fields as Recurrent Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2015
Pixel-level labelling tasks, such as semantic segmentation, play a central role in image understanding. Recent approaches have attempted to harness the capabilities of deep learning techniques for image recognition to tackle pixel-level labelling tasks.

Dysfunctional TRIM31 of POMC Neurons Provokes Hypothalamic Injury and Peripheral Metabolic Disorder under Long‐Term Fine Particulate Matter Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Particulate matter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) elevates risks of neurological and chronic metabolic diseases, but the underlying mechanisms linking PM2.5‐induced central nervous system (CNS) injury to metabolic dysfunction remain unclear. Hypothalamic pro‐opiomelanocortin‐expressing (POMC+) neurons regulate systemic metabolic homeostasis, and tripartite motif ...

Conrad: Gene prediction using conditional random fields [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Research, 2007
We present Conrad, the first comparative gene predictor based on semi-Markov conditional random fields (SMCRFs). Unlike the best standalone gene predictors, which are based on generalized hidden Markov models (GHMMs) and trained by maximum likelihood, Conrad is discriminatively trained to maximize annotation accuracy.
